Cassie To is an award-winning composer, producer, pianist and woodwind player from Sydney, Australia. Her textured, melodious music is carefully crafted to draw the listener into a world that reflects the most precious parts of being human: emotion, memory, and connection - with each other and the earth.

Heart Songs is the debut album of award-winning Australian film composer Cassie To. For many years Cassie’s work has accompanied the stories and relationships of characters on screen. With Heart Songs, she crafts her own narrative. This collection of pieces are a score to deeply personal scenes from Cassie’s own life: from wedding ceremonies to intergenerational family life; the arrival of newborn nephews. Entering a new decade, Cassie returned to her first instrument, the piano, to help work through the struggles of late night rumination, anxiety, imposter syndrome, climate grief, the overwhelm of geo-political unrest.

Some heart songs are love songs, others are lullabies, textural explorations, or dark moments of introspection. Layering strings, woodwinds and electronics with the familiar sound of her home piano, Cassie’s Heart Songs conveys an atmosphere both familiar and comforting.
